Dear LSU Staff Colleagues, 

The LSU Staff Senate approved two important resolutions at its recent meeting on Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Included below is a brief summary of each resolution along with a link to each resolution, in its entirety, on the LSU Staff Senate website. 

 

LSU Staff Senate Resolution 2013-01: Advocating for Enhanced Staff Compensation and Benefits


To support the promotion and protection of the welfare of the LSU Staff to the extent that the compensation and benefits offered to employees enhance their personal and professional well-being, as well as encourage their vocational and educational development.
In the resolution, the LSU Staff Senate formally reiterate its advocacy for vital and urgent staff raises. The resolution further recommends that A.G. Monaco, Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resource Management, be charged with researching options and making a formal recommendation to university administration on the opportunity and viability of expanding employee benefits offered to LSU employees.

LSU Staff Senate Resolution 2013-02: In Support of the University’s Exploration of Extending Domestic Partner Benefits to LSU Employees


To support the promotion and protection of the welfare of the LSU Staff to the extent that the benefits offered to employees enhance their personal and professional well-being.


As advocates for all LSU staff members, the LSU Staff Senate supports the university’s exploration of extending domestic partner benefits to LSU employees. The resolution further recommends that A.G. Monaco, Associate Vice Chancellor for Human Resource Management, be charged with fully researching the concept of extending domestic partnership benefits to LSU employees. In addition, the findings of Associate Vice Chancellor Monaco should be used as the basis of a formal recommendation to university administration on the matter of extending domestic partnership benefits to LSU employees.
