Staff Senate Elections 2013
The Louisiana State University Staff Senate are made up of duly elected representatives from the staff employees of the University. Each year elections take place to bring new representatives to the LSU Staff Senate.
LSU Staff employees are represented in the Executive/Administrative/Managerial, Professional/Non-Faculty, Clerical/Secretarial, Technical/Paraprofessional, Skilled Crafts, and Service/Maintenance categories.
The Staff Senate Executive Committee was named to conduct the election. If you have any questions concerning the election procedures, contact one of the members named below:

Staff members who have, prior to the election, completed at least one (1) year of continuous service and who are at least 75% effort at Louisiana State University and are interested in being elected to the Staff Senate should file as a candidate by completing the Declaration of Candidacy Form that is mailed to each staff employee on campus. Return this form to the Staff Senate Office, 3190 Pleasant Hall, no later than March 12, 2013. Executive Committee members and Human Resource Management will verify and certify eligibility.
Candidates, who wish to withdraw their names from the election, must indicate their intent by written notification and sending it to the Executive Committee, c/o the Staff Senate office, no later than March 19, 2013. After this, all names certified in the filing process will appear on the ballot.
Candidates may campaign between March 27, 2013 and April 10, 2013. Candidates will be responsible for their own campaign expenses.
Tabulation of votes will be made by the Staff Senate Executive Committee. Results will be publicly reported to the Staff Senate.
In cases where there are only as many candidates in a category as vacancies, the candidates will be declared elected (unopposed).
General Election Time Line 2013
February 21, 2013 - Nomination forms sent to Duplications/Printing. Forms used to nominate potential Senators in specific job categories. [HRM Lists/labels]
February 26, 2013 - Nomination forms mailed to University Staff.
March 12, 2013 - Nomination forms returned to the Staff Senate office deadline.
March 19, 2013 - Deadline for nominees to withdraw from candidacy.
March 22, 2013 - Forward ballots to Duplications/Printing.
March 27, 2013 - Mail ballots to all University Staff.
April 10, 2013 - Ballots due back to the Staff Senate office.
April 15, 2013 - Tabulate votes and notify the winners. Winners are announced/introduced at the June Staff Senate meeting.
