Redox-active liposomes have the capacity to selectively deliver encapsulants to cancer cells, within microfluidic devices and to enable nanostructure fabrication. The vesicle’s redox response shows particular promise for the selective delivery of anti-cancer agents to tumor tissues. Liposomes’ redox sensitivity extends to conventional chemical and electrochemical reduction, expanding their potential utility to applications such as delivering reagents in microanalysis devices, or creating electro-responsive surfaces for use in patterning of metal, metal oxide or polymer surfaces for microelectronic and/or sensor devices.
