BS in Kinesiology

Concentration:  Sport Studies

 

The Sports Studies concentration is designed for those students who desire a broad, liberal undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. This concentration also prepares students for graduate study.  Graduates in the sport studies concentration often pursue careers related to exercise and fitness specialists in health clubs and the sport industry, and sales related careers within pharmaceutical and sport equipment companies.

 

Admission Requirements: 

 

Admission into the School of Kinesiology undergraduate program requires a 2.5 GPA and completion with a C or better in English 1001, Math 1021, Math 1022, Biology 1201 and 1202. 


Course Requirements:


All degree programs in the BS in Kinesiology require 120 hours:

  • General Education, 39 hours: ENG 1001, 2000, MATH 1021, 1022, BIOL 1201, 1202, PHYS 2001, CMST 2060, Humanities Electives (6 hours), Art Elective (3 hours), and Social Science Electives (6 Hours)
  • Kinesiology Core,  31 hours: KIN 2500, 2501, 2504, 3502, 3513, 3514, 3515, 4520, BIOL 2160, KIN activity courses (4 hours)
  • Sport Studies Concentration Courses, 50 hours: Required: KIN 1803, 1804, 2540, BIOL 1208, 3 hours from PHIL 2018, 2025; POLI 2057; PSYCH 2000, 2078; HUEC 1110, SOCL 2001; 6 hours from KIN  3507, 3534, SOCL 3501, 3601, PHIL 3001, 3002, 4015, PSYC 3082, 4070, ELRC 4006, 4400; 3 hours from KIN 2511, 2515, 2516, 2517, 2518, 2519, 2526, 2530; 9 hours from: KIN 1600, 2600, 2602, 2603, 2604, 2577, 3603, 3604, 3605, 3608, 3660, 4600, 4601, 4602, 4605; 21 hours of approved electives
