Dr. Chad Seifried is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator for the School of Kinesiology at the Louisiana State University. Prior to this opportunity, Dr. Seifried served as the Graduate Chair for LSU Sport Management and was a faculty member for The Ohio State University Graduate Sport Management program. His major recent research interests involve sport facility construction and preservation management with special emphasis on college and professional venues. As an example, Seifried recently completed work on heritage preservation and renovation, tax law, building codes, stadium/ballpark leases, and historic structure reports which all focused on facility management from a variety of perspectives (i.e., contract law, building code law, ethics, teaching/instruction, and leadership). This work also focused on historically significant individuals (i.e., Tex Rickard and Huey P. Long) to help highlight the contribution of history within contemporary management settings. Collectively, his work has been published in venue management, teaching education, law, history, and management journals (e.g., Journal of Management History, Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, Journal of Sport History, Sport History Review, Sport Management Education Journal, Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport, Quest) to help reach his personal goals and enhance the brand of the LSU. Overall, Dr. Seifried has authored over 60 peer-reviewed articles and presentations, 8 book chapters/encyclopedia entries, and 7 university reports. He has also completed over 30 invited lecture opportunities at campuses all over the United States, advised nearly 80 students (i.e., graduate and one undergrad honors), chaired multiple award committees, and served as the founding faculty member of LSU’s PhD program in Sport Management. Finally, Seifried has been awarded the Academy of Management’s Management History Division Award for Best Reviewer and recognized as the Best Reviewer at the Southern Management Association’s annual conference in Management History and Education. Furthermore, he has served on numerous editorial boards and beginning in 2014, Dr. Seifried will start co-editorial responsibilities with the Journal of Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics.
