Welcome to our website. Established in 1928, the LSU Department of Communication Studies is one of the oldest communication departments in the nation. We provide undergraduate and graduate education (B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees) with emphases in rhetoric, performance studies, and interpersonal communication while advancing knowledge in those areas and providing service to our discipline and community. The department strives to provide an environment that is innovative, stimulating, friendly, and humane. The faculty are committed to employing a wide spectrum of perspectives that serve to inform and thereby improve habits and practices of communication so as to enable the advancement of culture.

    Congrats to CMST major Anna Marsden, one of 14 University Medalists for the Fall of 2014.
    University Medalists have the highest undergraduate grade-point averages of all students graduating from LSU.
