Welcome to our website. Established in 1928, the LSU Department of Communication Studies is one of the oldest communication departments in the nation. We provide undergraduate and graduate education (B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees) with emphases in rhetoric, performance studies, and communication theory while advancing knowledge in those areas and providing service to our discipline and community. The department strives to provide an environment that is innovative, stimulating, friendly, and humane. The faculty are committed to employing a wide spectrum of perspectives that serve to inform and thereby improve habits and practices of communication so as to enable the advancement of culture.
