Ph.D. in Higher Education Admissions Process

1. Fill out the Graduate School Application Form on the Graduate School web site at http://gradlsu.gs.lsu.edu/. As you do this, we urge you to take the statement of purpose very seriously. We will consider this statement as a key piece of your application. On the Graduate School Application, please designate your interest in our Department and one of our graduate programs. This section will be forwarded to the School of Education.

2. Have your GRE scores (and TOEFL scores if a International Student) as well as undergraduate and graduate university transcripts sent to the LSU Graduate School. After the Graduate School has received and processed these materials, your file will be forwarded to the School of Education.

3. Have three letters of recommendation submitted electronically or mailed to:

    School of Education
    Attention: Tara Stewart
    Louisiana State University
    223 Peabody Hall
    Baton Rouge, LA 70803

4. To complete your file, we ask that you submit a 3-5 page essay discussing what you believe to be a key issue in the field of Higher Education today.

Important Dates

For priority consideration, applicants must have the entire process noted above completed before March 1 for Fall admission and October 1 for Spring admission. Keep in mind that the Graduate School will need at least a week after all application materials have been received to process the application file. We must have all materials in ETPP by the dates above for priority consideration.

We expect to request interviews of eligible candidates shortly after the above deadlines, and plan to notify applicants of their status by April 1 in the Spring and by November 1 in the Fall.
