The School of Education offers M.Ed, Ed.S., and Ph.D. graduate programs with a specialization in Reading/Literacy Education.
NEW: 2013-2015 Graduate Literacy Course Rotations
The Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Reading/Literacy is designed to advance the knowledge base of certified teachers. This program requires 36 hours of credit at the graduate level. Students must pass a comprehensive final exam consisting of a series of written questions pertaining to this specialization.
Certificate of Education Specialist (Ed.S.)
The Certificate of Education Specialist (Ed.S.) program with a specialization in Reading/Literacy Education is intended primarily for teachers. This program provides in-depth opportunities for further professional growth and specialization for persons who have completed the master’s degree. A minimum of 60 hours of graduate credit—which may include the master’s degree—is required.
The Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Reading/Literacy Education prepares scholars and leaders in the field. The Ph.D. is a research degree; thus students are expected to engage in and present research while completing the degree. The Ph.D. prepares students to enter a variety of fields in education.
