Thank you for your interest in the LSU Child Care Center. We are excited about our program and the possibility of you and your child joining us. Please be aware that our enrollment policy is a first-come, first-served basis.
Application Fees
Enrollment at the LSU Child Care Center is open to children of LSU students, staff, faculty, alumni and those not affiliated with LSU. To apply for enrollment at the LSU Child Care Center, an application form must be completed, signed and received with a $45.00 application fee paid in full. Applications for enrollment are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and are date stamped when received at the Child Care Center. Completion of the application and payment of the application fee do not guarantee enrollment at the Center.
Eligibility
Children six weeks to five years of age are eligible to enroll. Enrollment priority is determined by the following criteria:
1. Siblings of children currently enrolled at the LSU Child Care Center
2. Children of LSU staff, faculty and full-time currently enrolled students at LSU
3. Children of individuals with secondary affiliations to LSU (part-time students, part-time staff, adjunct faculty, LSU alumni, grandchildren of LSU students, staff or faculty, or individuals working for the LSU System.)
4. Children from the surrounding community
Waiting List
Children are entered onto the waiting list for the first available space in the order in which the application and $45 application fee are received. Therefore, the application form and the $45 application fee should be submitted as early as possible. Delay in submission may create a longer wait for enrollment. When a space becomes available at the LSU Child Care Center, the child chosen for enrollment is determined by reviewing the waiting list and issuing priority according to eligibility. The waiting list will be searched beginning at the top for:
1. The first age-appropriate, eligible and
2. The date of desired enrollment as indicated on the application form.
Eligibility and date of desired enrollment must coordinate with the date the space is available. The Center encourages all families on the waiting list to provide updates on current contact information and child’s official date of birth, if applicable.
Determination of Available Space
The Child Care Center is committed to enrolling any and all eligible children from the waiting list as soon as openings within the Center become available. Openings within the center typically occur as a result of:
1. Currently enrolled family providing written notice of a child’s last day of attendance, or
2. Children promoting to other classrooms within the Center.
Most openings typically occur at the end of a semester, but on occasion openings occur during the middle of the semester.
Notification of Available SpaceWhen a position in a classroom becomes available, the LSU Child Care Center administrative team will contact the family via phone and e-mail to offer a space. The family will be given 48 hours to accept or decline the space. This short time frame is intentional so that families on the waiting list have the shortest possible wait. If the space is accepted, the Center will send a letter confirming a space for enrollment including the start date and monthly tuition amount. The offer letter will indicate the due date of the $200 non-refundable, annual registration fee, and the first month’s tuition. The registration fee of $200 is assessed prior to enrollment and each August thereafter. If full payment of the registration fee and the first month’s tuition is not received by the due date indicated on the offer letter, the LSU Child Care Center administrative team will attempt to contact the family by phone and e-mail. If the family is unable to be reached within 48 hours after the payment due date has passed, the space will be offered to the next family on the list. Repeated unsuccessful attempts to make contact with the family will result in the child’s name being permanently deleted from the waiting list. If a family is offered a space for enrollment within the LSU Child Care Center and the space is declined, the LSU Child Care Center will provide written notification and/or e-mail confirming that the child was removed from the waiting list.
