Enrichment Programs

Included Enrichment Programs:

Spanish – Our resident Spanish teacher gives weekly lessons through programming that uses music, movement, drama, art and storytelling to teach children.  Spanish is taught by the child hearing the language and it's new and different sounds, and responding to commands first physically, then verbally. Spanish time is once a week for approximately 30 minutes with children 18 months and older. Each lesson includes songs, poems and props.  A note is sent home each week with the key words in which the children have learned.  The LSU Child Care Center integrates Spanish lessons into the planned curriculum for children ages 18 months and older.

Music – Our music program brings music education to your child at the LSU Child Care Center. Rather than adding to your family's weekly schedule, we strengthen your child's learning program on site with weekly music lessons. Your child will participate in a familiar environment with music educators and children he or she knows. The music program is available to children ages 18 months and older.

Elected Enrichment Programs:

Happy Feet classes are half-hour long that include structured soccer activities with a ball and other fun props for children ages 2-5 years old. HappyFeet classes continually use its 'kid friendly' curriculum to ensure kids are having an absolute blast while developing essential physical skills.  These classes incorporate classic nursery rhymes, songs and children’s games adapted to incorporate a soccer ball and basic motor skills development. Fun songs and games stress basic motor skills and introductory soccer touches.

Silly Goose Creative Dance’s goal is to provide girls and boys with an experience that will build their self-confidence and nurture creativity.  Under the direction of Ryn Jones with Instructors Stephanie McCandless & Jen Roach, Silly Goose has over 60 years of combined experience.  Once a week classes during the school year (with a separate themed summer program) include enjoyable activities and exercises appropriate for each age level.  Activities, which incorporate music and creative movement, will enhance skills in listening, rhythm and coordination.  Most importantly, Silly Goose classes are a memorable, fun & unique!  Families are invited to attend an end of the year demonstration class where the children “show off” what they have learned.  Each child receives a medal and certificate.
