CREDIT MONITORING

Additional Information | Frequently Asked Questions

Higher education has been identified as a high risk environment for data breaches and potential identity theft. Unlike corporations, university networks must remain open to enable research and academic inquiry. That said, universities are challenged not only to protect their data, but to respond to the inevitable disclosure of private information. Over the last year, numerous colleges, government agencies, and corporations have had to address the aftereffects of a data breach. LSU wants to mitigate the impact of a potential breach on the LSU community.

Through a special arrangement with Equifax, all current LSU employees and students may register for a credit monitoring service. LSU community members will be able to actively monitor their credit in order to protect themselves from identity theft and credit fraud.

We have provided the following two options to sign up for the service.

Signing up directly through Equifax's secure website will allow you to create a User Name, create a Password and immediately access your Equifax Personal Solutions product. By providing Equifax with your personal information, they will be able to verify your identity and register you as an Equifax member. All of the information you provide will be transferred to us through a private, secure connection.

Signing up through the EZ Enroll application sends your basic enrollment information for the free credit monitoring service to Equifax for final processing. In 7 - 10 business days, you will receive a letter from Equifax to your home address that outlines the steps to follow in order to access your Equifax Personal Solutions product. If Equifax is able to verify your identity, your letter will provide you with the Equifax website address, a User Name and a description of your Password. You will need to agree to the Terms of Use and then will access your product. You must complete your enrollment within 60 days of your receipt of the Equifax letter.

Please direct any questions regarding this service to creditmonitor@lsu.edu.

Note: We are not impacted by Hillis Slack Settlement regarding Equifax.
